Become a South St. Paul Bluebird Volunteer

Join the City of South St. Paul in becoming a bluebird nest box monitor this summer at Kaposia Landing.  Volunteers are needed to monitor the boxes weekly to insure their safety from when the first egg is laid until the little ones fledge.

Each spring, thousands of bluebirds return to Minnesota looking for nests to raise their young. David Schmidt, a MN Master Naturalist, will be conducting a monitoring class on Thursday, March 22 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at City Hall, 125 – 3rd Avenue North.    During the class, volunteers will identify where the boxes are located, how to check the boxes, what to do to keep the bluebirds safe, and how to record what is found.

To register, email  with you name and contact information.  Your participation can be as simple as visiting the bluebird nest monitor once a month for 20-30 minutes.  For additional information, contact Deb Griffith, Community Affairs Liaison, at or 651-554-3230.
