Reduced weight restrictions are placed on the weight per axle of vehicles on some County highways during the spring months. Restriction periods can last anywhere from four to eight weeks. Click here for the Load Restriction Map.
Minnesota Statutes 169.87 Subd. 2 states: Seasonal load restriction. (a) Unless restricted as provided in subdivision 1, between the dates set by the commissioner of transportation each year, the weight on any single axle shall not exceed: (1) five tons on an unpaved street or highway; or, (2) ten tons on a paved street or highway; (b) The gross weight on consecutive axles on an unpaved street or highway shall not exceed the gross weight allowed in sections 169.823 to 169.829 multiplied by a factor of five divided by nine. This reduction shall not apply to the gross vehicle weight.
