The final design for the Southview Boulevard and 3rd Avenue Improvement Project is complete. The purpose of this construction project is to: address aging infrastructure, improve pedestrian/bicycle and transit accommodations, include streetscape elements, and manage traffic operational and safety needs.
Construction began May 14, 2018, with the first phase of construction involving Southview Blvd (20th Avenue North to 12th Avenue North) and Southview Blvd (5th Avenue North to 3rd Avenue North). Detours will route traffic along Marie Avenue.
Construction along Southview Blvd. and 3rd Avenue will begin on Thursday, May 31. Work will begin with tree removals and then pavement removals will occur the week of June 4th. Watermain construction is scheduled to begin shortly after payment removals are complete. Work crews will be onsite typically 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with some Saturday work. During this time, the roadway will be closed to thru traffic but will remain open, when possible, for residents and businesses to access their driveways. Access to individual driveways may be unavailable at times during working hours, but access will be restored each night. Traffic and transit stops will be detoured to Marie Ave. during this time.
The second phase of construction will involve Southview Blvd (12th Avenue to 5th Avenue) and is scheduled to begin in July.
