If the planning, execution, and weather cooperate, all city
fields should be open next week 5/14/18, except McMorrow. Athletic Fields
have been evaluated based upon current conditions and the weather outlook and
considers the potential for long term damage and ultimately the safety of field
users Here is a breakdown of field conditions today 5/11/18:
Harmon Park Field: Open for use
Veterans Field baseball/softball: Open
for use. Outfield fences will be
installed next week. NOTE: Veterans Field 23 will be
temporarily closed for one week to undergo renovation starting Monday, May
14. The improvements will include the excavation and replacement of
ag-lime, installation of draintile, and crowning and grading of the field to
improve drainage. Scheduled field users have been notified.
McGuire Field baseball: Open for
scheduled use. Four games are scheduled for Saturday 5/12/18 at 11:00
AM, 2:30, 5:00, and 7:30 PM. If your team would like to use the field
this season, please schedule with Shannon Young if you have not already done
so.
Kaposia Landing baseball and softball:
Fields remains closed today through Sunday, May 13th. Draintile
installation will conclude today. Field restoration, including sodding,
will conclude on Monday 5/14/18, weather permitting. Scheduled field
activities, including the start of the independent adult softball leagues, will
begin regularly next week, weather
permitting. NOTE: The South St. Paul High School is hosting a
Fastpitch B Squad softball tournament Saturday 5/12/18 at Kaposia Landing,
games at 9:00, 10:30 and 12:00 noon with the fields set up utilizing 200’
temporary fences, inside the draintile installation areas. The fields
will be closed the rest of the weekend.
McMorrow Field soccer: Fields
remain closed through mid-summer. The field turf areas at McMorrow
Field continue to thicken and mature after
renovation. If conditions allow, we are tentatively planning opening for
organized activity in late July.
Batting cages are available for use upon request.
