City of South St. Paul Announces the Release of a Song Dedicated to the Class of 2020 Graduates
In our global pandemic the City of South St. Paul along with the Mayor’s Youth Taskforce decided that they wanted to do something to help the graduates of the Class of 2020 "SHINE"!
"We started talking about what we could do because we knew we wanted to do something special for the class of 2020. These students, their families, and our community deserve something extra special this year," said Mayor James Francis. "We wanted to provide these young adults, along with their teacher, a positive memory of their graduation despite all that is going on in the world."
The Mayor’s Youth Taskforce commissioned Kat Perkins and co-writer Eric Warner to write a song specifically for all South St. Paul students. You might recognize Kat Perkins from her 2014 appearance on NBC’s The Voice. Today, Kat Perkins continues to share her talent and spread joy in the form of musical performances in neighborhoods around the Twin Cities Metro and surrounding areas.
"This was an opportunity to collaborate in a new way with a city and a school district that truly cares about their students and want to make their 2020 graduation extra special. I am thrilled to take part in supporting South St. Paul’s students and staff through my music," Perkins said.
The song titled "Shine" went live on Wednesday, May 27, 2020, along with a music video. Follow this link to view the music video: https://vimeo.com/422966425
